Tournaments
Tournaments
Armored Combat Tournament
The tournament will be double elimination. We will have two pools until the semi finals, where we will go down to one.
Double kills will be destructive. If two bouts are fought and both end with a double kill, the fighters will continue until a bout ends with a single victor.
All weapon styles are permitted, provided the fighter is appropriately authorized. Bring your best.
After the double elimination tourney, time permitting we will have a Warlord Tournament. This tournament works much the same as any single elimination tournament, except that whomever wins the fight absorbs their opponent into their team, and it becomes a small melee in the end. After or, if time does not permit, in lieu of this the field will be open for pickups.
Cut and Thrust Belgian Longsword Tournament
The rules of the tournament are:
Appropriate armor as defined by the Northshield Rapier Handbook including hand protection, back of head protection, elbow and knee protection in addition to standard rapier armor.
Valid target areas include: head, torso from waist up, and arms from elbows up. Blows outside that area do not need to be taken.
Each combatant will have a waist sash and arm bands so judges can more easily discern where a blow lands.
If a combatant delivers a clean blow in a valid target area, they “hold the field” and receive the next combatant. If a fighter who holds the field is struck in a valid target area but is able to give a counterblow, (strike their opponent in a valid target area WITHIN THE SAME STEP, but after their opponent’s blow) they are given the point and retain the field.
The right of the counter-blow only goes to the combatant holding the field.
Combatants are to report their wins to the list after retiring the field. Combatants may hold the field for up to 5 rounds before being asked to return to the cycle.
The tournament will be decided by simple number of most victories.
If you are planning on participating in this tournament, please send me a message on Facebook (Jean-Robert Lemarchand) or an email at jrlemarchand@gmail.com so I have an idea of number of participants.
Thank you.
