Unto the good folk of Nordskogen, Nordleigh, and Blachemere, greetings!
Snow today, sun tomorrow . . . spring is in full force, and we’re
looking forward to the return of thrown weapons practice and outdoor
archery practices, depending on weather. Youth boffer fighting
practice has also resumed on alternating Tuesdays alongside heavy
weapons practice. Remember to check the Nib and/or the various
Facebook groups for the latest updates.
Last month at Coronation we witnessed with great solemnity the
transition of the Crown of Northshield to Their Royal Majesties Konrad
and Aibhilin after Their Royal Majesties Vladimir and Petranella led
our army to the successful defense of Vienna but were, tragically,
lost. Our cousins Jararvellir hosted with generous and unfailing
hospitality, but Her Excellency also caught wind of possible hijinks
in the works for Warriors & Warlords. . .
Her Excellency also had a wonderful time demonstrating spinning at
Nordleigh’s public demo at the beginning of April: many thanks to Lady
Ingeborg for setting it up, Maestra Giovanna for the delicious period
lunch, and the canton members for a comprehensive presentation of what
makes the SCA fun for each of us. With roughly seventy visitors, it
was a resounding success.
Next on the calendar, His Excellency will be attending Bardic Madness
while Her Excellency travels East to witness Atlantia’s Crown
Tournament (a trip definitely not influenced by a nearby sheep and
wool festival). The kingdom needs heirs, so the next week His
Excellency will journey to the Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr to witness
Spring Crown Tournament. Looking ahead, we both hope to see familiar
faces as well as new friends at Border Skirmish in June.
We look forward to seeing you all, whether at home or abroad!
