To the people of Nordskogen do Caoilfhionn and Gabriel, Baroness and Baron, send greetings.
It’s been another endless week with the news of extended stay-at-home and more canceled events. It’s so disheartening to pick yet another day to look forward to for relief–for a celebration that things are back to “normal”–only to have it canceled as well. Blachemere cannot host Crown or our just-scheduled Champions Tourney Day, Nordleigh cannot celebrate in person the coronation of one of its own, Nordskogen has postponed Schuetzenfest, and we’re all sad to miss events hosted by our fellow groups in Northshield. As the Minnesota stay-home order stretches into May, we worry about WW and beyond.
But even as we grieve missed gatherings, we see nothing but patience, understanding, and kindness among our people. We may not gather in person, but we gather every day online to connect. Folks who have to be out and about are supporting those who must stay home. Teachers are pouring out knowledge to those hungry for distraction, and compassionate voices support those who are working harder than ever or who need to withdraw and rest.
It’s hard to get through a day without doubts, but despite them, we can also look to the bonds that hold this barony and the whole Society together: community, mutual support, and a love for each other as well as history. We see you, all of you, making it happen. It is an honor to wear your coronets. Thank you from the depths of our hearts.
